IT Services: Jackson’s Art Supplies

by UK IT Networks

Founded in 2000, Jackson’s Art Supplies offers a vast range of the finest art materials, supplying artists all over the world with the materials they need to realise their creative potential. Based in London, with distribution and operations in Gloucester, Jackson’s supply over 45,000 different product lines, shipping to over 165 countries globally, 7 days a week.

The Challenge

Jackson’s had been experiencing issues with their previous IT Support supplier, and with the prospect of increasing prices, they were looking to switch. As they dispatch around 2,500 orders each day, they need to be able to rely on their IT provider and support team.

“We have a lot of IT systems and platforms that we are completely reliant upon. If our internet connection is unreliable, we cannot pick, pack, or dispatch our products. Our IT is vital.”

Stuart Small, Operations Director at Jackson’s Art Supplies.

As Jackson’s did not have an existing IT department in-house, they were reliant on their team members to take on smaller IT jobs, however, if bigger problems arose, this would take them away from their usual role. Therefore, it was important for Jackson’s to invest in an IT Support team that could fully manage their IT systems externally and respond to problems quickly when they occurred.

The Goals

Our goal for Jackson’s was to provide them with combined proactive IT support and telephony services delivered with quick response times. At UK IT Networks, our dedicated account managers and 24/7/365 availability of engineers allow us to monitor our clients’ IT systems around the clock and raise issues immediately – usually before the customer is even aware.

The Solution

Jackson’s were an existing telephony customer of UK IT Networks, so onboarding them to our IT Support package was simple.

“One of the drivers of coming over to UK IT Networks for IT services was the email migration and cybersecurity. We are looking forward to bolting everything down.”

Stuart Small, Operations Director at Jackson’s Art Supplies

We migrated Jackson’s onto a new, fully customisable IT Support contract, which includes; a fixed number of annual remote support issues; callouts; out of hours remote support; reduced rates on hardware, software and cloud services; and site visits.

The Impact

“It is a natural synergy to have telephony and IT Support from one provider. You have a good base to grow from and we need support right now.”

Jackson’s currently has 40 staff working from home from their two sites. For this to operate successfully, Horizon Collaborate has been vital. We have also set up a VPN (Virtual Private Network) allowing employees to access their servers from home or site, enabling staff to continue with normal operation no matter where they are based. As well as this, Jackson’s has begun the process of obtaining Cyber Essentials – a government-backed cybersecurity certification, to strengthen their defences against cybercrime.

“We had no data backup in place and not in a segregated or offsite way, now we are covered – this is really pleasing.”
